Fire rages through home in Geismar

Thursday in Geismar saw the coming together of area fire departments as they battled to put out a blaze that began in a home.
The fire, which happened sometime in the early evening of Jan. 27, was mainly structural, but did do a significant amount of damage.
“Luckily nobody was injured,” said volunteer fire fighter Justin Ellis. Ellis also commented that there is no suspected arson in this instance.
Volunteer Fire Departments from Geismar, Galvez-Lake, and the 7th District were all on hand to battle the flames.
Chief James E. LeBlanc with Ascension Parish Fire District #1 said in a statement, “these departments spent countless hours fighting a large structure fire. On behalf of Ascension Parish Fire District #1, and the residents of Ascension Parish, we would like to commend them for all their efforts.”
