Volunteer firefighters attend training

The following members of the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department attended the course: Regan Andre, Christi Bourgeois, Scott Cohenour, Chris Deroche, John Gautreau, Aaron Gautreaux, Adam Gautreaux, Jerry Gautreaux , Nicole Jacks, Dane LeBlanc, Drake LeBlanc, Hardy McKinney, Brady Moran, Josh Moran, Ryan Moran, Justin Pauler, Troy Richardson, Robbie Villenurve, Christine Willson, Josh Wingerter, Vanna Lott, Landon Netterville, Phyllis Melancon, Cleve Melancon, Broc Poche, Darren Lambert, Brett Jons, Stacey Denham, Jai Denham, Bradley Cohenour and Dakota Jenkins.

Recently, a four hour training session on Self Contained Breathing Apparatus was attended by thirty-one Volunteer Firefighters from the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department.

The equipment is used by firefighters to enter spaces where the atmosphere could be immediately dangerous to life and health or may become oxygen deficient. The volunteer firefighters were properly instructed on how to inspect and don an equipment, stated Chief Officer James E. LeBlanc.

During the training session, conducted by Chief of Training Adam Gautreaux, each firefighter was trained on the proper inspection of the equipment, and the proper way to fill an self contained breathing apparatus bottle from a cascade system and air compressor.

The St. Amant Firefighters also went through a Maze Confidence Course.

The firefighters were also instructed on the proper handling of the equipment should it malfunction while they are inside a burning structure.

Firefighters were trained on different types of apparatus.
