Truck strikes culvert on Hwy. 42

At about 2:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 24, Fire Protection District # 1 firefighters and apparatus from the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 42 at H.H. Wilson Road.

A pick up truck traveling west ran off the road into the ditch striking a culvert, then coming to rest in a yard. The air bags on the vehicle were deployed. The driver was treated by fire department personnel and transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance ground unit.  The passenger was transported by Air-Med to a Baton Rouge hospital.

Other responding agencies were the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, The Louisiana State Police and Acadian Ambulance.
