Gonzales Police Department is asking for public for assistance in the locating of Joseph Bernard Zaffuto, a white male, age 25.

Zaffuto was reported missing Saturday afternoon by his parents, after he left the residence and did not return, Det. Sgt. Steven Nethken said.

Family members told police that it was not out of the normal for Zaffuto to walk down the street to a local convenience store and purchase a drink and he would return shortly afterwards.

Family members were very concerned because their son has been diagnosed with a mental disorder and had a recent surgery, and requires require medication for both, Nethken said.

Police have discovered that Zaffuto has made a withdrawal of approximately several hundred dollars from the ATM at Murphy Express located at 130 S. Airline Highway in Gonzales at approximately noon on Saturday.

Zaffuto appeared to be alone and not associated with any vehicles, and according to family members, has no friends or family in the Gonzales Area, Nethken said.

Anyone with information to the whereabouts of Joseph Zaffuto should contact the Gonzales Police Department at 225-647-9537.
