Gonzales man charged in prescription drug bust

State Troopers working in the Baton Rouge Narcotics unit arrested a Gonzales man Nov. 5 after what is described as an extensive narcotics investigation.

Troop A spokesman TFC Russell Graham II said in a release that Ryan Espinoza, 29, of Gonzales was charged after police executed a search warrant on his residence at 13206 George Rouyea Road.

While executing the search warrant troopers, with the assistance of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, seized Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, a .380 caliber pistol, and $1,320 from ß residence, Graham said.

Investigators learned that Espinoza was distributing diverted prescription medication throughout the Ascension Parish area, according to the release.

Espinoza was  booked into the Ascension Parish Prison on charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs, possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV drugs, and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance.
