A certain tract of land with buildings and improvements thereon and thereunto belonging, situated in the Parish of Ascension, State of Louisiana, on the right descending bank of the Mississippi River, at a distance of about nine miles above the Town of Donaldsonville, and measuring on and one-quarter arpent more or less front on said river with all of the depth of the plantation of which it formerly formed a part, and including the double concession, closing slightly in the rear according to the plan of the said plantation; also twenty-two toises front to be measured from the point nearest to the Mississippi River with the depth thereunto belonging to the land bought by Neville Melancon from John R. Thompson, and bounded above by land of Widow N. Melancon and below by land of Madam (Dr.) John R. Dominique; also about twenty-four toises front with all of the depth thereto belonging of the land bought from Trasimond Landry, and bounded above by land of Widow Nevile Melancon and below by land of Madam Dominique. The whole of the hereinabove described tracts of land containing together fifty-eight (58) arpents in superficies, more or less, and being an undivided part and portion of the land and buildings allotted to the late Aristide Melancon, in the settlement of the Succession of the late Nevile Melancon and partition among his heirs, by act before Henry L. Duffel, Notary Public, dated June 29, 1968, and recorded in Book of Conveyances, of the Parish of Ascension, State of Louisiana, No 28 at folio 591.

The hereinabove described property being situated in Section 23, Township 10 South, Range 14 East, Ascension Parish, Louisiana, is more particularly shown and set out on a map of survey made by Vincent P. Pizzolato, C.E., dated January 11, 1969, and containing 41.404 acres, a copy of said map being annexed hereto and made part of this act of sale and paraphed Ne Varietur by the Notary Public for identification herewith.

This is not an emergency. If it had been you would have been notified immediately.

Total coliform bacteria are generally not harmful themselves. Coliforms are bacteria that are naturally present in the environment and are used as an indicator that other, potentially-harmful, bacteria may be present. Coliforms were found in more samples than allowed and this was a warning of potential problems.

You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.

During the reporting period of July 1, 2010 through July 31, 2010, the Avanti Mobile Home Park water supply violated the maximum contaminant level of coliform bacteria as set forth in the State and Federal Primary Drinking Water Regulations [Part XII of the Louisiana State Sanitary Code (LAC 51:XII)]. Action has been taken to eliminate the contamination.

Usually, coliforms are a sign that there could be a problem with the treatment or distribution system (pipes). Whenever we detect coliform bacteria in any sample, we do follow-up testing to see if other bacteria of greater concern, such as fecal coliform or E. coli, are present. We did not find any of these bacteria in our subsequent testing. If we had, we would have notified you immediately.

Sampling points that are not used as regular sample points may not be up to standard. These bibs are seldom used and may have insects or excrements on them. This type of debris can cause a positive coliform situation.

The following steps were taken to resolve this violation:

Chlorinated and flushed the water system

Increased the sampling for coliform bacteria

Investigated the source of contamination

We will inform you when additional samples show no form of coliform bacteria

People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

Ascension Parish School Board    today announced its policy for free and reduced price meals served under the National School Lunch and/or School Breakfast Program(s).  All schools and the central office have a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

Application forms are being sent to all homes, along with a letter to households.  To apply for free or reduced price meals, households should fill out one application for the household and return it to the school.  Additional copies are available at the principal’s office in each school.  Applications may be submitted at any time during the year.  The information provided by the household is confidential; it will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility.  Information may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program officials.

For the school officials to determine eligibility, each household that is now receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition  Assistance Program, formerly the Food Stamp Program) or that is on the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) must provide its SNAP or FITAP case number as well as the signature of an adult household member.  All other households must provide the following information on the application: names of all household members; the social security number of either the parent/guardian who is the primary wage earner, or the adult household member who signs the application, or a statement that the household member does not possess one; the amount of income (before deductions for taxes, Social Security, etc.) each household member receives; how often the person receives the income; where it is from, such as wages, retirement, or welfare; and the signature of an adult household member certifying that the information provided is correct. 

If a household member becomes unemployed or if the household size increases, the household should contact the school.  Such changes may make the children of the household eligible for meal benefits.

Foster children who are the legal responsibility of a welfare agency or court may be eligible for benefits.  If a household has foster children and wishes to apply for such meals for them, the household should contact the school for more information.

Households that receive SNAP or FITAP benefits are not required to complete an application.  School officials will determine eligibility for free meals based on documentation obtained directly from the SNAP/FITAP office, which will certify that a child is a member of a household currently receiving SNAP or an assistance unit receiving FITAP benefits. School officials will notify households of their eligibility.  Households who are notified of their eligibility but do not want their children to receive free meals must contact the school.  SNAP and FITAP households should complete an application if they are not notified of their eligibility by   September 22, 2010.

Under the provisions of the free and reduced price policy, Child Nutrition Program Central Office will review applications and determine eligibility.  If a parent or guardian is dissatisfied with the ruling of the official, he may wish to discuss the decision with the determining official on an informal basis.  If the parent wishes to make a formal appeal, he may make either an oral or written response to the following:

EAST ASCENSION CONSOLIDATED GRAVITY DRAINAGE   DISTRICT NO. 1 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING

The regular monthly meeting of the East Ascension Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 Commissioners Meeting was held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 6:00 P.M.  in the Council Meeting Room, Courthouse Annex, Gonzales, Louisiana.

 Chairman Randy Clouatre called the meeting to order.

   The invocation was given by Randy Clouatre and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

Members Present:  Todd Lambert, Randy Clouatre, Adrian Thompson, George Valentine, Dempsey Lambert, Pat Bell, Kent Schexnaydre , Chris Loar, Dennis Cullen and Benny Johnson

Agenda Item # 3-Public Comments / Addition to Agenda

   There were no additions or public comments.

Agenda Item #4– Acceptance of Minutes of May 3, 2010

   A motion was made by Pat Bell and seconded by Todd Lambert to accept the June 7, 2010 minutes as written.  No objections.  Motion carried. 

Agenda Item # 5- Chairman’s Report

   Chairman Randy Clouatre encouraged all Commissioners to take a good look around their districts on items needing immediate attention during this Hurricane Season. 

Agenda Item #6– Drainage Reports

   Mr. Bill Roux announced he handed out a summary of the status of projects and their District Reports were handed out to each member before the meeting and to feel free to contact him with any questions or concerns.  Questions and comments were given by Adrian Thompson, Dempsey Lambert, Kent Schexnaydre, Bill Roux, President Martinez, Randy Clouatre, Dennis Cullen, and Todd Lambert.  There was a discussion.

   Additional comments were made by Jake Lambert of GSA and Mike Enlow of CDM.

Agenda item #7-Hartman Engineering-Task Order #1

A motion was made by Todd Lambert and seconded by Pat Bell to authorize Task Order #1 as per Retainer Contract 2010 Hartman Engineering for an Environmental Permitting Master Plan at a cost not to exceed $47,500.00.  No objections.  Motion carried. 

Agenda item # 8-Paul Lamendola Construction-Substantial Completion

   A motion was made by Dennis Cullen and seconded by Kent Schexnaydre to accept the bulkhead on Bayou Francois located near City Hall, City of Gonzales, constructed by Lamendola Construction Co. as substantially complete as of June 21, 2010.   No objections.  Motion carried.

   There being no further business to come before this Commission a motion was made by Todd Lambert seconded by Pat Bell to adjourn.

   The meeting adjourned at 6:39 P. M.
