Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a burglary suspect who stole a charity donation jar from a Gonzales store.

The suspect tossed a cinder block through a glass window of the store in the early morning hours of Feb. 16, and stole the jar of money, Ascension Parish Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.

The money was being collected for a breast cancer charity, he said.

The store’s surveillance video shows the suspect dressed in a hooded black coat, dark-colored trousers with paint spots and light tan colored boots with paint spots, the chief deputy said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
