Authorities searching for robbery suspect

Staff reports
Leo Haymond III

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a Darrow man suspected in an October robbery.

The principal perpetrator in the case, 29-year-old Leo Haymond III of 5258 Mercury Dr., remains at large, Ascension Parish Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.

Authorities previously arrested three women allegedly involved in the incident.

Tammie David, 32, of 13250 Roddy Rd., Gonzales, was arrested Dec. 2 on one count of simple robbery and a bench warrant for failure to appear. She bonded out of jail after posting a $10,000 property bond, Bacala said.

Rose Ann Barker, 33, of 10504 Hwy. 22 Lot 28, St. Amant, was arrested Nov. 19 for simple robbery, prostitution and two bench warrants for failure to appear, the chief deputy said. Her bond was set at $17,736.50.

Catherine Summerville, 26, of 42230 Moody Dixon Rd., Prairieville, was arrested Nov. 20 for simple battery, Bacala said. Her bond was set at $7,500.

Bacala said authorities responded to The C’est Bon Motel on Airline Highway in Prairieville Oct. 27 where a man reported he had been beaten and robbed.

The man, indentified as Kenneth McLeod, reported he had been staying at the motel while working at the State Fair in East Baton Rouge Parish, Bacala said.

McLeod reportedly admitted to authorities that he had invited a woman to his room a week prior and paid her for sex, the chief deputy said.

McLeod told deputies that he had called the woman to visit him for drinks on the night of Oct. 27.

The woman allegedly arrived at the motel with two other females and a male, Bacala said.

The male reportedly beat McLeod, robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and the three fled in a dark-colored truck.

Authorities identified the Barker, Haymond, Summerville and David as suspects, Bacala said.

Detectives later learned that Barker apparently attempted to flee the vehicle following the robbery, but Haymond allegedly pulled a weapon on her and refused to let her leave, Bacala said.

Haymond is wanted for simple robbery, false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault with firearm, and possession of firearm by convicted felon.
