MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL, TOWN OF SORRENTO, TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2010, 6:00 P.M., SORRENTO TOWN HALL, SORRENTO, LOUISIANA

Members Present:

Mayor:  Blake LeBlanc

Councilmen:  John Braud, Wilson Longanecker, Jr., Milton Vicknair, Marvin Martin, Lionel Melancon, Jr.

Chief of Police: Earl Theriot

   Motion by Councilman Wilson Longanecker, Jr. and seconded by Councilman Lionel Melancon, Jr. to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of the mayor and council taken Tuesday, January 5, 2010.   Motion carried.  Vote as follows:

YEAS:  Marvin Martin, John Braud, Milton Vicknair, Wilson Longanecker Jr., Lionel Melancon, Jr.

NAYS:  None

   A special meeting of the mayor and council was been called for Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Town Hall in Sorrento to discuss Orange Grove Subdivision.

Motion by Councilman Milton Vicknair and seconded by Councilman Lionel Melancon, Jr. to hire Robert Bender as a reserve police officer.  Motion carried.  Vote as follows:

YEAS:  Marvin Martin, Milton Vicknair, Wilson Longanecker Jr., Lionel Melancon, Jr.

NAYS:  None

ABSTAIN: John Braud

Motion by Councilman Lionel Melancon, Jr. and seconded by Councilman John Braud to approve the 2010 paid holidays.  Due to the Mardi Gras holiday falling on February 16, 2010 the Town of Sorrento regular scheduled meeting for this day is moved to Thursday, February, 18, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.  Motion carried. Vote as follows:

NAYS:  None

   Their being no further business to come before the Mayor and Council and upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned.

Motion by Councilman Milton Vicknair and seconded by Councilman Lionel Melancon, Jr. to authorize town attorney to agree to the current proposal offered by Rennaisance Development Group concerning terms of payment of the $150,000.00 owed to the town, with the exception that there be a mortgage in favor of the town, subject to a separate release agreement stating that the town will release the mortgage from each lot upon payment at act of sale(s).  Motion carried.  Vote as follows:
