Fire damaged two houses in Gonzales early Sunday morning.

A house located next to Music Inc. on East Cornerview Street ignited around 1:30 a.m. and the fire began to spread to a neighboring house on South Bullion Avenue, Gonzales Fire Chief Tracey Normand said.

The house located at 107 S. Bullion Ave. had flames coming out of its roof when firefighters arrived, he said.

Firefighters used a ladder truck and worked to keep the fire away from other nearby buildings.

The two houses were the only structures to sustain damage, as the neighboring music store was not affected, the chief said.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the incident, Normand said Monday.

No firefighters were injured while working the fire, he said
