Firefighters respond to Airline Highway crash

Fire Protection District No. 1 firefighters and apparatus from Geismar and Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Airline Highway and Babin Road Nov. 18.

Fire Protection District No. 1 firefighters and apparatus from Geismar and Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Airline Highway and Babin Road Nov. 18.

The collision was between a car and pickup truck, according to Fire Coordinator Gene Witek. The mother and two children in the car were treated at the scene by personnel from Geismar, Galvez-Lake and Acadian Ambulance. All three were transported to the hospital by Acadian Ambulance. The mother wore her seat belt and the children were secure in car seats. The driver of the pickup was not transported.

Units from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police worked the accident.
