Woman dies in Interstate 10 crash
A Donaldsonville woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish just after 2 a.m. Saturday.
Denise M. Dumas, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner's Office, according to Louisiana State Police spokesperson Tpr. Russell Graham.
Anthony Jackson, 46, of Vacherie, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup west on the interstate when he struck the rear of the 1998 Honda Accord Dumas had been driving, Graham said.
The Accord reportedly was traveling west in the right lane slowly when the pickup struck its rear.
The pickup rolled over several times after the collision, Graham said.
Jackson and his passengers were properly restrained and sustained minor injuries, according to Graham.
Troopers do not suspect alcohol was a factor.
Graham said Jackson voluntarily submitted a blood and breath sample, which showed no detectable alcohol in his system.
The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed, Graham said.
