Suspect sought in home burglaries

Staff reports
Gerald Broussard Jr.

Authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with a rash of residential burglaries.

During the past several weeks the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a number of daytime burglaries in the Prairieville, Gonzales and St. Amant areas, according to Sheriff Jeff Wiley.

All of the burglaries resulted in the rear door of the home being kicked in and the items such as televisions, jewelry and computers being stolen, he said.

The Sheriff’s Office has an active warrant on Gerald Broussard Jr. of 12356 George Lambert St. Amant, for the burglary of a residence in a mobile home park on Airline Highway in Gonzales where a motorcycle was stolen.

Broussard is also a person of interest in the recent rash of burglaries.

Broussard is believed to be driving a red 2003 extended cab Chevy S-10 truck bearing license plate X150990, the sheriff said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
