PRAIRIEVILLE – Louisiana State Police arrested two New Orleans men Monday suspected in 20 burglaries around the Baton Rouge area.

Assisted by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gonzales Police Department, troopers apprehended the suspects after a short vehicle and foot pursuit on Hwy. 44 in the Prairieville area, according to Troop A spokesperson Russell Graham.

Troopers arrested Louis Hebrard and Rome Rodriguez, both of New Orleans, at around 3 p.m. Monday after a trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for not having a license plate, Graham said.

After taking the men into custody, troopers noticed televisions, computers, jewelry and other items believed to be stolen in the vehicle, Graham reported.

During the investigation, troopers found that the two suspects may have been involved in about 20 burglaries in the Baton Rouge area over the last few months, Graham said.

State Police detectives are working with the Baton Rouge Police Department to identify the items stolen, according to Graham.

In a separate, unrelated incident, troopers recovered about $1 million worth of suspected stolen televisions following a traffic stop on Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish near Holden, Graham said.

A trooper stopped an 18-wheeler traveling east for improper display of the license plate, according to Graham.

Detectives determined that the televisions were stolen from a warehouse in Dallas and destined for Florida, Graham said.

Some 400 televisions were found inside the trailer after the trooper obtained consent to search, Graham reported.

Troopers arrested the driver and the passenger and identified them as Abdel Alvarez, 36, of Hialeah, Fla., and Rodolfo Hernandez, 46, of Dallas.
