Three men sought in robbery of elderly couple

Staff reports

Authorities are looking for three men suspected of robbing an elderly Gonzales couple, according to Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley.

The incident reportedly took place during the day Feb. 10 at the couple’s home on Hwy. 431 in the Brittany area, Wiley said.

The three men said they were looking for property to lease. While one subject was outside looking at the property with the elderly female, another subject asked to use the bathroom inside, according to Wiley.

Two of the subjects reportedly made their way inside the home along with the elderly man. Once they were inside, they asked the man for change. When he took out his wallet, the subject physically forced him to remain seated in a chair while nearly $2,000 in cash was taken, Wiley said.

Another subject went into the bedroom and took cash from the woman’s purse, according to Wiley.

The three men fled in a car that is possibly light colored, the sheriff said.

The suspects are described as: a white male, 6-feet to 6-foot-2, weighing more than 300 pounds, with a dark complexion; a white male, about 6 feet, thin build, with a dark complexion; and a white, possibly Hispanic man who spoke without an accent, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, about 125 pounds, with a dark complexion.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
