Deputies searching for three involved in wallet theft

Ascension Parish deputies are looking for three individuals suspected in a theft at Wal-Mart in Donaldsonville, reported Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley.

On the night of Dec. 20, a store customer was approached by two unidentified females in the grocery section asking the customer how to prepare a turkey, according to the sheriff. The customer took the time to explain how to cook a turkey, and after doing so, the females told the customer they would return for a turkey after going to the front of the store for a shopping cart, Wiley said. The two never returned and as the customer was approaching the checkout area she discovered that her wallet had been taken from her purse, according to Wiley.

Ascension Parish authorities responded and the store’s surveillance video captured the two females distracting the customer while a male stole the customer’s wallet from her purse, Wiley said. The wallet contained a number of credit cards, checkbook, drivers license, and more than $450 cash, Wiley reported.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the individuals is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
