Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment presented a timeline and information for the reopening of Ascension Parish Government offices in Phase One of Governor Edwards’ guidelines.

According to Cointment, all parish offices will reopen to the public on Monday, May 18, with normal business hours. People needing to visit public buildings will be required to wear their own face masks or face coverings. Social distancing will be required, and visitors are limited to one person per party.

Plexiglas dividers have been installed, and parish employees interacting with the public will be wearing face masks. Everyone is encouraged to follow CDC guidelines when interacting with others. Information is posted at CDC.gov, and on the parish Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/AscensionGov/.

“Our goal is to keep everyone, the public and employees alike, safe and healthy,” Cointment said.

Cointment also pointed out that most interactions can be carried out by telephone or online. Information and instructions can be seen at www.AscensionParish.net.

“I want people to be sure to know that their Parish government has never stopped working on their behalves,” he said. “Administrators have been working from home and our DPW and drainage crews have been safe-distancing during alternating shifts to stay current with Parish needs.”

The guidelines are for parishes offices. Each municipality will issue its own office procedures.
