Gonzales man arrested on multiple charges after deputy injured in incident

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives arrested 35-year-old Joey Joffrion today after an incident that occurred on Sunday, shortly after 2 a.m.
Deputies responded to the area of Rotterdamn Road in reference to a burglary alarm. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a subject, later identified as Joffrion, driving extremely reckless on an ATV in the subdivision. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and siren, however Joffrion refused to stop and struck a deputy, causing significant injuries.
The deputy was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries.
Joffrion continued to flee the scene after striking the deputy with the ATV and was unable to be located that day.
After further investigation, detectives were able to locate and arrest Joffrion, of Gonzales, after he agreed to turn himself into detectives. He was charged with attempted-first-degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, hit and run driving, and off-road vehicle violations.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
