On November 14, detectives arrested 49-year-old Abraham Chambers on burglary charges stemming from an earlier burglary that occurred in October 2018.

According to Sheriff Jeff Wiley, on October 20, deputies responded to the Salvation Army, located on Bayou Narcisse Road in Gonzales in reference to a burglary complaint. Deputies located the front glass door was shattered and the cash register was missing.

As the investigation continued, it was learned that Chambers borrowed a pickup truck and then drove to the Salvation Army to commit the burglary.

Chambers was in the Salvation Army’s rehabilitation program and worked for the business approximately a year ago.

He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on November 14 and booked with simple burglary, criminal damage to property, theft, and criminal trespass.
