Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A arrested 55-year-old Freddie Jackson Jr. of Harvey for DWI following a fiery crash that closed I-10 westbound for several hours in Ascension Parish.

The crash occurred as Jackson was traveling westbound on I-10 in a 2007 Freightliner. Jackson’s truck struck the concrete construction barriers before striking the guardrail and rupturing his fuel tank. Jackson continued to travel westbound until his truck began to burn.

Troopers observed multiple signs of impairment during their initial contact with Jackson. Jackson sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Troopers continued their investigation into Jackson and determined that he was impaired. Troopers placed Jackson under arrest and booked him into the Ascension Parish Jail for DWI 1st Offense and Careless Operation. A toxicology sample was also taken from Jackson and submitted to the LSP Crime Lab for analysis.
