Troopers seek hit and run vehicle that killed pedestrian

A media release from State Police Troop A indicates that a driver in a Magna Steel-colored GMC Terrain vehicle may lead to the suspect in a hit and run which left a pedestrian dead yesterday afternoon.
Local dealerships helped identify the vehicle, and troopers say it should have significant damage to the front-right side and the passenger's side mirror. Evidence leading to this conclusion was left at the scene.
The incident occurred on US 61 south of Interstate 10 in Sorrento, according to the release. The man who was killed is 49-year-old Patrick Lester of St. Francisville. State Police began the investigation just before 4:00 p.m.
According to the release, "the initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Lester was walking on the northbound side of US 61. For reasons still under investigation, Lester was struck by a vehicle and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash."
