The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office made three arrests after investigating a case of stolen property located at a residence in the parish. Chief Deputy Bobby Webre said detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Paul Road in St. Amant on Friday January 26. The warrant was executed after detectives received information that a convicted felon was in possession of stolen assault rifles.

When detectives executed the warrant on Christopher Washburn, 32, of St. Amant, they discovered methamphetamine, heroin, suboxone, synthetic marijuana, a quantity of cash, and stolen items inside the residence. The detectives also found three four-wheelers without identification numbers on the property.

“Detectives are actively working to find information on the four-wheelers to return them to their owners,” added Webre.

A handgun, an AK-47, and an AR-15 that was reported stolen from a residential burglary in October were also located on the premises. Washburn and two other occupants of the home were arrested.

Washburn was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, heroin, and suboxone. He was also arrested for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of stolen things, and three counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms. Judge Leblanc set bond at $175,000.

Emmanuel Castillo, 33, of Prairieville, was charged with possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance.

Renee Powell, 50, of St. Amant, was arrested on an active bench warrant for two counts of possession of CDS II, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS I manufacturing, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, trespassing, and theft.
