Ascension Parish Government back to normal operations

Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa announced today that all Parish functions are back to normal operations after the recent subfreezing weather.

“All offices are open, and full crews are on duty to serve the people,” said Matassa. “Plus, we have been in constant communication with all Parish agencies to keep everything running as smoothly as possible.”

Matassa reported that the water systems on the west bank – Parish Utilities of Ascension and ACUD #1 – experienced no issues or difficulties during the freezing temperatures. A boil water advisory that was issued by Assumption Parish Waterworks District 1 does not affect Ascension Parish; it is only for Assumption water customers who live past the Pierre Part Bay Bridge west toward the Belle River area.

Matassa also noted that another hard freeze is expected Thursday night/Friday morning, and he asked residents to watch for signs of water leaks, especially at the homes of neighbors who are away, and report them by calling the emergency line at 225-450-1078.
