DNA result leads to arrest

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Karl Johnson, 34 of 6129 East Glen Court, Baton Rouge, LA, in connection with a residential burglary near Napoleonville on or about June 27, 2014.

The victim reported being awakened by a door being pried open and the sound of shattering glass as well as her alarm sounding. The suspect entered the residence but fled when the alarm was activated.

Evidence was recovered from the scene and submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for forensic and DNA analysis.

A suspect DNA profile was obtained and entered in the CODIS Database. In June of 2017, detectives were notified by the crime lab that the DNA profile taken from evidence recovered at the scene was matched to Karl Johnson.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson’s arrest, charging him with:

*Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling

Johnson was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department on November 4, 2017.

Johnson was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he was booked and

incarcerated in lieu of $7500.
