The Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that 21-year-old David Day of Maurepas died in a three-vehicle crash in Gonzales the night of October 10.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on LA 429 east of US 61 (Airline Highway).

The LSP report states: "The initial investigation . . . revealed that the crash occurred as Day was traveling eastbound on LA 429 in a 2013 Honda Civic. At the same time, 23-year-old Kyle Cornett of Ragley was traveling westbound on LA 429 in a 2005 International. For reasons still under investigation, Day crossed the centerline into westbound lane and struck Cornett’s vehicle head-on. The impact caused Day’s vehicle to rotate as it continued moving east. Day’s vehicle was then struck a second time by a 2015 Subaru WRX driven by 27-year-old Raymond Farr of Gonzales."

Also according to the news release, Day was wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner's Office. The other drivers involved, Cornett and Farr, were also buckled in. LSP reported they were to conduct a toxicology test for the parties in the accident.
