On September 6, Parish President Kenny Matassa was happy to attend a follow up meeting of regional leaders regarding drainage and transportation issues, hosted by East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. In February, Matassa hosted the first regional drainage summit to begin addressing our mutual infrastructure needs.

GOHSEP and DOTD officials presented regional successes since the August 2016 floods and proactive steps needed to prepare for our future. All parish presidents in attendance committed to continued dialogue and joint action, specifically on water storage, the dredging of Bayou Manchac, and funding for intraparish transportation projects.

"Regionalism is the key to our success," said President Matassa. "I remain committed to regional efforts that will produce more attention and funding from the federal and state level."
