Ascension to Implement Organizational Improvements

Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa and the Parish Council pledged a unified effort to improve the operations of Parish government after the results of an efficiency and effectiveness study were released by SSA Consultants during a special meeting of the Council’s Finance Committee.

When I took office a year and a half ago, I inherited an organization that had been cobbled together under three different administrations and still operating out of a police jury mentality,” said Matassa. “The people deserve a government that is efficient, responsive and equipped to serve them well.”

Matassa noted that no salary studies had been done in nearly a decade, even though it is mandated by the Parish Home Rule Charter. During the course of the study, he also directed the consultants to go even further in the process by recommending administrative changes as well.

Parish government is full of great public servants who wake up each morning to improve the quality of life for our residents and visitors,” added President Matassa. “A better organization means a happier workforce, and a happier workforce is more productive and creative.”

Many of the recommendations included in the report had already been addressed by the Parish Administration and are in the process of being put into place, including the results of the salary study released last month.
