Geismar plant catches fire early Wednesday morning

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported an active fire at Airgas, a gases, welding and safety products supplier located on La. 30 in Geismar. At around 5 a.m., La. 30 near La. 73 and La. 3115 was closed for nearly two hours due to the reported fire. 

According to APSO, one employee was taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
