APSB educators present at La. Mathematics Conference

Alana Jackson Special to the Weekly Citizen

Three Ascension Parish educators were chosen to present at the annual Louisiana Teachers of Mathematics Conference in Baton Rouge last month.

Armed with the research based strategies they've implemented in their classrooms and the amazing data to prove the dynamic impact it's had on their students, Alana Jackson, Stacy Bradford and Tracy Gautreau lead a session on how to utilize technology to effectively differentiate classroom instruction.

Referencing the extensive work done with students at Spanish Lake Primary, the teachers showcased how they decided to use the 1:1 Technology Program, implemented throughout Ascension Parish, to modify the structure of their classrooms to increase student understanding. The teachers shared how they utilized a flipped classroom model to give clear, concise instruction followed by immediate specific feedback to remediate and/or enrich students based on their individual needs.

Conference attendees were very receptive, inspired, and motivated to implement similar structures in their own classrooms across the state.
