Five Ascension residents appointed to Louisiana Boards

On May 13,Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions, including seats to five Ascension Parish residents: Jerry P. Savoy, Patrick W. Bell, Sr., Leonard C. "L.C." Irvin, Sr., Paula C. Rodriguez andBen B. Babin Sr.
Jerry P. Savoy, of St. Amant, was reappointed to the Pontchartrain Levee District. Savoy is a maintenance supervisor with Occidental Chemical and will continue to serve as a representative of Ascension Parish. As required by statute, Savoy was nominated by a legislator representing Ascension Parish.
Patrick W. Bell Sr., of Duplessis, was reappointed to the Pontchartrain Levee District. Bell is retired and will continue to serve as a representative of the Louisville, New Orleans, and Texas Railway Company.
Leonard C. “L.C.” Irvin Sr., of Darrow, was reappointed to the Pontchartrain Levee District. Irvin is a Major with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and will continue to serve as a representative of the Illinois Central Railroad Company.
Paula C. Rodriguez, of Gonzales, was appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Disability Affairs. Rodriguez is the Director of Deaf Focus and will serve as an at-large member on the Council.
Ben B. Babin Sr., of Prairieville, was reappointed to the Amite River Drainage & Water Conservation District. Babin is a retired corporate affairs manager for AT&T and will serve as a representative of Ascension Parish. As required by statute, Babin was nominated by a legislator representing Ascension Parish.
