Brawl at local graduation ceremony leads to three arrests

      On Thursday night, May 12, two females were arrested in connection to a brawl that erupted at the end of the East Ascension Graduation Ceremony of Wednesday, May 11. At that time, an arrest warrant was also procured for a third female.

     The two females arrested on May 12 were Destiney Latrell Thompson, 17, of 40513 Cross Ridge Ave., Prairieville and Delencia Latrice Williams, 17, of 38310 Mulberry Road, Prairieville.

     Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail at that time on charges of simple battery, disturbing the peace, violent and tumultuous manner and disorderly conduct. Bond will be set at an upcoming bond hearing.

     At approximately 2:15 on Friday, May 13, Rodneisha Patterson, 18 of 189 Grisaffe Lane, Belle Rose, contacted the City of Gonzales Police Department directly after hearing that a warrant had been issued for her arrest. She was arrested and is now being held at the Ascension Parish Jail on the charges of simple battery, disturbing the peace, violent and tumultuous manner and disorderly conduct. Her bond will be set at the same upcoming bond hearing.

     Social media sites were abuzz with images and commentary from the brawl, with many area residents expressing their dismay at the actions seen.

      Chief Jackson wishes to assure the public that this matter will not be taken lightly.

      “We will not tolerate this behavior in our city,” stated Jackson. “We cannot and will not allow this behavior to have no consequences. Further arrests may also be forthcoming.”
