Garden growing unpacked

The LSU AgCenter is conducting a backyard fruit production symposium for homeowners who would like to learn more about growing fruits in the home garden. The symposium will be presented by local extension agents Mariah Bock from St. James/Assumption Parishes, Craig Roussel from Ascension/St. James Parishes and Dr. Raj Singh, LSU Plant Pathology Professor.
Topics covered will include general fruit production practices, and insect and disease management. Following indoor presentations, pruning and fertilization demonstrations will be conducted in the demonstration fruit orchard at Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Crops to be covered include blueberries, blackberries, citrus, figs, grapes, apples and pears.
The symposium will be held on Thursday, March 3, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales, in the LSU AgCenter Extension Office.
