Assistant being tapped as interim superintendent

     The Ascension Parish School Board executive committee have recommended Denise Graves, assistant superintendent, as interim superintendent to fill the position vacated by Patrice Pujol pending her March 1 retirement.

     Graves began work in the system in 1981 as teacher at St. Amant High School, later having been a principal there and at Gonzales Middle before becoming director of middle schools and director of human resources.

     School board members have agreed to conduct a national search, but in the interim, Graves could be named on Feb. 16 when the full board will meet to discuss who will maintain the position of Ascension Parish Schools superintendent.

     The goal set forth by the executive committee is to hire the new superintendent by June 1.
