Parish Finance Dept. lauded for 2014 reports

GONZALES – The Parish of Ascension has been awarded The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the year ended Dec. 31, 2014.

“The Parish of Ascension has worked diligently over the past several years toward achieving this recognition with this representing the seventh consecutive year receiving this distinguished designation,” said Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa. “The Parish’s financial staff should be commended for their efforts.”

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is awarded through the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and is considered the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The parish’s Finance Department was recognized for comprehensive annual financial reporting (CAFR).

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association dedicated to promoting the best financial practices and financial availability in North America. The association currently serves more than 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
