Parish President Proclaims Gwen LeBlanc Day in Ascension Parish

     Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 as Gwen LeBlanc Day in Ascension Parish in honor of parish Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer Gwen LeBlanc’s 42-year career.

     President Martinez read the proclamation aloud during the parish finance meeting on Dec. 7 before presenting it to LeBlanc.

     “Gwen, you’ve always done a wonderful job and we appreciate it and I just wanted to show this small token of appreciation,” President Martinez said.

     A lifelong resident of Ascension Parish, LeBlanc began her career in public service with the parish in 1973. In 1984, LeBlanc accepted the position of Ascension Parish Secretary-Treasurer and in 1994, she was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer until 2000. LeBlanc became Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer in 2000 and remains in that position today. While maintaining a distinguished career in Ascension Parish, LeBlanc has also served with numerous organizations including as an Ascension Parish Sales & Use Tax Authority board member, a Parochial Retirement System of Louisiana board member elected statewide, Government Finance Officers Association (state and national) member, National Association of Counties County Administrator’s Organization, Louisiana Association of Parish Administrators, Leadership Ascension’s first class graduate and past member of their Alumni Board. She is also a member of the East Ascension Rotary Club.

     “With 42 years of dedicated service to the residents of Ascension Parish, Gwen LeBlanc has lived up to and surpassed the parameters defined in the Ascension Parish Home Rule Charter because she has performed her duties as Treasure of Ascension Parish with integrity and honesty, and all done in a professional manner,” President Martinez said.
