On Friday, Nov. 20, Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge held their 9th Annual Thanksgiving Celebration.  Approximately 450 individuals with disabilities and their family members and community friends were served a traditional Thanksgiving meal at the event, hosted by Baton Rouge First Church of the Nazarene.

The event opened with Jamie Tindle, Executive Director of FHFGBR, thanking all the sponsors for their donations to make the Thanksgiving Celebration possible.  Pastor William Bonee of the Baton Rouge First Church of the Nazarene led the group in prayer and then the guests were invited to receive the traditional Thanksgiving meal served by wonderful volunteers from across the Baton Rouge Community.

The event was made possible by generous contributions from our community.  Monetary donations from Amerigroup, Capital One Bank, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Foundation, Walmart Neighborhood Markets, Walmart Supercenters and an ExxonMobil Team Grant helped to provide supplies, decorations and food.  Baton Rouge First Church of the Nazarene provided the building, facilities and great hospitality. Tony Chachere’s contributed to the event in a big way just as they have in the years past.  Tony’s brought a crew of employees to the event to inject and fry 40 turkeys as well as supplying the rice dressing. Beverage in-kind donations were also provided by Baton Rouge Coca Cola.  BREC supported the event by providing chairs.
