William Simoneaux

A Prairieville man wanted for domestic abuse battery after a physical altercation ensued between he and a  woman acquaintance, has been arrested.

William Simoneaux, 37-years-old, was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish on Dec. 21, just hours after the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office put out a public call for his whereabouts.

According to Major Ward Webb, on Dec. 14, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Rue Royale Ave., Prairieville in reference to a disturbance. Deputies arrived on scene and located a  woman who stated she was involved in a physical altercation with 37-year-old William Simoneaux and that he had hit her several times and made death threats towards her.

Simoneaux fled the scene and was not located that day. Simoneaux later told deputies that he would turn himself in, but had failed to do so.

As the investigation continued, it was learned that Simoneaux is a convicted felon and has been arrested on domestic violence charges in the past. He has been arrested eight times with charges stemming from simple battery, second-degree battery, armed robbery, and drug charges.

Over the past week, deputies had attempted to locate Simoneaux at several different addresses but he had not yet been arrested, Major Webb said.

Simoneaux is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail for domestic abuse battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He will be transported to Ascension Parish at a later date.
