The City of Gonzales Police Department has reported that on July 24, an unknown white male subject entered the Gonzales Walmart, 308 N. Airline Highway, to purchase a pre-paid cell phone in the electronics section.

While making the purchase, the subject was observed handing the cashier approximately twelve $20 bills which were later determined to be counterfeit.

Upon further review of the video surveillance footage, the suspect was observed entering the parking lot driving a 2002/2003 Ford F-250 four-door truck. The truck was dark grey in color with a black tool box in the rear.

The suspect is described as heavy set with a mustache and was seen wearing a dark colored shirt and camouflage hat.

It was also found that the suspect was at the business with both a younger white male and younger white female. It is not believed at this time that the two are involved in the scheme.

If you have any information that can assist the City of Gonzales Police Department, you are asked to contact the Detective’s Unit at (225) 647-9536.
