Ascension Parish goes purple
GONZALES – On Sept. 24, Ascension Parish officially kicked off Relay season at St. Elizabeth Medical Plaza.
The day served as an informational and early registration period for the Parish’s annual participation in Relay for Life – an event in which more than 4 million people in over 20 countries raise funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
“The parish is growing exponetially and I think we have a really good opportunity to reach a lot of people with the mission of the American Cancer Society,” said event lead and St. Elizabeth marketing specialist, Jacob Balfantz. “Our goal this year is $200,000.”
Ascension Parish is a part of the Mid South Division for Relay – regionally this division has raised about two to three million dollars collectively.
The event will take place on April 30 with the national theme Paint your world purple.
