Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed September 2015 as National Preparedness Month in Ascension Parish. Parish Council Chairman Randy Clouatre read the proclamation aloud during the Sept. 3 Parish Council meeting in Donaldsonville. Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Rick Webre, Operations and Training Section Chief Ami Clouatre and Planning/Intelligence Officer Meredith Conger accepted the proclamation. “The theme and the objective behind National Preparedness Month is to focus on individual responsibility for public safety and we want to support that,” Webre said. “If anyone wants to develop a family assistance plan or a family readiness plan, you can contact our office at (225) 621-8360. We’ll be more than happy to assist any resident with preparing their family plans.” Webre said residents may also follow the department’s Facebook page for update information on natural disasters.
