Two inmates escaped but were apprehended a short while after

On Thursday, May 21, at 7:29 p.m. two inmates escaped from the Ascension Parish Jail in Donaldsonville, according to Sheriff Jeff Wiley.
Deputies received an anonymous tip from a person driving by the jail who noticed what appeared to be two male inmates located outside the jail’s security fence.
Jail personnel identified the two missing inmates as Lionel Caire of New Orleans, who is being held on false imprisonment, simple criminal damage to property, armed robbery and theft charges.
The second inmate who broke his ankle while jumping over the fence was identified as Brian K. Cavalier of Zachery, who is being held on threatening communications charges.
The investigation continues as to how the inmates were able to breach the security perimeter, added Sheriff Wiley.
Both inmates were arrested and charged with escape just a short while later.
