St. Amant High School DECA Chapter attends International conference

St. Amant High Schools’ DECA Chapter attended DECA International Career and Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida. On Friday, April 24Louisiana DECA state officers Victoria Stewart and De’Jaun Ferguson with their advisor Rae Broussard and the following nine DECA members: Emily Cardwell, Lillie Pastorick, Samantha Gautreau, Kaitlyn Biri, Lesley Gamez, Saray Gamez, Kearra Moton, Paige Wilson, and Jordan Hollier.

At this conference, senior Kearra Moton competed in the role-play event Principles of Marketing. Other members attended workshops that bettered them in leadership, communication, networking, and business skills. Also, the state officer’s set-up and attended caucuses with national executive office candidates and attended voting delegate meetings to vote for the new national officer positions.

On this trip there were people from all over the United States, even some from Canada and Spain, students were able to talk with each other, compare their DECA Chapters, network, and just hangout.

This conference wasn’t all business though, the students also had the opportunity to visit many of the attractions Orlando had to offer, such as, Universal Studios, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Louisiana’s Southern Region Vice President Victoria Stewart and State Vice President De’Jaun Ferguson are looking forward to their upcoming term as state officers and have goals set to better Louisiana’s DECA as a whole.
