Storm Debris Pick-Up to start Monday, May 4
GONZALES –Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez is asking parish residents to have their vegetative storm debris ready for curbside removal by Monday morning, May 4.
Parish officials are formulating a pick-up schedule and it will be publicized on Monday.
The debris must be placed at the street right-of-way. Officials said do not place the debris in ditches, or near mailboxes, fire hydrants, electrical power lines, telephone pedestals or gas meters.
Debris that is placed farther than 10 feet from the street or curb is considered on private property and will not be picked up. Debris should not block the roadway.
A public drop off point will also be established and publicized next week, said Rick Webre, director of the Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
This service will be for Ascension Parish residents only. Contractors or other commercial vendors will not be allowed to use the designated site.
“The debris removal will take time but we want the residents of Ascension Parish to know we will get to your location,” Webre said.
