Ascension Parish Recreation Director Garney Gautreau takes a call in the new Ascension Parish Boat Launch building conference room. Parish officials said the 1,200-square-foot room may be rented for numerous events including reunions, parties and conferences.

GONZALES – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced today parish recreation officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently refurbished Ascension Parish Boat Launch on Wednesday, March 11 at 9 a.m.

The boat launch and building facility, formally known as P.J.’s Landing, is located at 45175 Paul Road Extension in St. Amant.

“We’re excited that parish residents are able to utilize this boat launch to access Bayou Francois and enjoy the parish’s rich waterway system,” said President Martinez.

“But now they will also be able to use the building for events.”

Parish Recreation Director Garney Gautreau said the parish purchased the seven-acre facility two years ago from a local landowner for $165,000. Gautreau said the launch area was dredged out and doubled in size.

Part of the remodeled building houses recreation department offices, a kitchen, storage rooms and bathrooms.  The building now includes a 1,200-square-foot conference room that can be rented for parties, reunions and other events.

Gautreau said there is no launch fee. For more information about the Ascension Parish Boat Launch and room rental fees, contact Ascension Parish Recreation Department Program Coordinator Michelle Templet at (225) 621-5787.
