Veteran’s Association to host Musical Tribute for the Troops March 13

Staff Report @WeeklyCitizen

The Ascension Veterans Association will host its Musical Tribute for the Troops on March 13 at the Gonzales Civic Center with doors opening at 6 p.m. and show beginning at 7 p.m.

The AVA has focused funds raised at the musical tribute for Care Packages for Ascension Parish Troops deployed overseas, Veterans Park materials, Family Readiness support activities, and other goodwill gifts to all Ascension Parish Veterans in the Veterans Hospital, Veterans Parade and Scholarship funds and more activities.

There will be plenty entertainment with a silent auction, cash bar and hors d’oeuvres all offered while the community enjoys a trip back into the 1940s with entertainment from Center Stage Performing Arts Academy and Larry Schexnayder.

Big Band music will be heavily featured from Rosie and the Riveters with special guest, Judy Whitney Davis.

Every year the show is changed to “keep things fresh and surprising to our loyal guests and to delight newcomers to the Musical Tribute,” Missy Jandura said, AVA spokesperson.

Sponsorships to offset costs are being sought and silent auction pieces accepted. Tickets are $30 each, and this show has sold out every year, so “please get your sponsorship or tickets early.”

The core fundraising group includes: Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Association, Women Veterans of Louisiana and veteran supporters from the community. Volunteers sharing passion for their local active service and veterans are always welcome to join.
