Shooter in Donaldsonville homicide arrested Tuesday night

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Colonel Bobby Webre reported Tuesday night that 26-year-old Shawn Broom turned himself in to authorities shortly after 8 p.m., after he wanted for the homicide of Michael Stewart, 21, of Donaldsonville who was shot at a residence on St. Vincent Street shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Broom, of 503 Catherine Street, Donaldsonville was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and illegal use of a weapon.

He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
