NAACP, Voter’s League, others meet to discuss community’s future

NAACP President Tyler Turner and Vice President Ty Fowler met with Timothy Riley of the Ascension Parish Voter's League, Sarah Holliday-James, Louisiana Representative and Executive Director of Urban Game Changers, Cleve Dunn, Sr. Executive Director of Court Supervision and Attorney Peter John Managing Partner of The "Q" Firm LLC to discuss the upcoming future of the community and surrounding areas.

The Ascension Parish Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) met with several organizations to discuss the state of the community on Friday, Feb. 20.

NAACP President Tyler Turner and Vice President Ty Fowler met with Timothy Riley of the Ascension Parish Voter's League, Sarah Holliday-James, Louisiana Representative and Executive Director of Urban Game Changers, Cleve Dunn, Sr. Executive Director of Court Supervision and Attorney Peter John Managing Partner of The "Q" Firm LLC to discuss the upcoming future of the community and surrounding areas.

“The meeting entailed hopes of implementing new programs to establish justice and unity in the community while also building mutually beneficial relationships with other surrounding parishes,” Fowler said in an email to the Weekly Citizen. “Everyone who attended the meeting was welcoming and offered great ideas as to getting the desired goals accomplished.”

“We encourage all members of society to get involve in organizations that have a heart for the people,” Fowler said.
