Chambers honors 2014 success at annual awards banquet

The Ascension Chamber of Commerce honored its 2014 Ambassador, Individual, New Business, Small Business and Large Business of the Year at its Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center.

The Ascension Chamber of Commerce honored its 2014 Ambassador, Individual, New Business, Small Business and Large Business of the Year at its Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center. 

Attendees began their evening by networking with fellow Chamber members during a social hour, followed by a steak dinner. After dinner, the Chamber celebrated the dedication and commitment of their 2014 Award Nominees. 

Ascension Chamber Board Chairman Kendal Matassa, of Regions Bank, and Chamber President/CEO Sherrie Despino kicked of the banquet with opening words that reflected why the event is important.

“We’re here to celebrate Ascension’s best individuals and companies of 2014, and their commitment and dedication to this community,” Matassa said.

Rae Milano, Chairman of the Ambassador Committee introduced the 2014 Ambassadors, and then announced Terri Kaaihue as the Ambassador of the Year.

EATEL’s Jenny Heroman was voted as the 2014 Individual of the Year, while the 2014 New Business of the Year was awarded to the Ogwyn Bonaventure Law Firm; as Jason Bonaventure represented at the podium.

For the 2014 Small Business of The Pelican Point Golf Club took the award; as Phillip Right represented at the podium, while BASF was presented with the Large Business of the Year award; as Tom Yura represented at the podium.
