APSB announces new policy for Non-Public, Home-Study students

The Ascension Parish School Board announced a new policy that is applicable during the 2015-16 school year for nonpublic and home study students entering Ascension Parish Schools in the fifth or ninth grade.
Students who are transferring to fifth or ninth grade from an accredited nonpublic school are not required to take the PARCC (ELA /Math) or LEAP (Science/Social Studies) tests.
Upon enrollment, students must provide an official transcript or report card certifying promotion to the fifth or ninth grade.
Students who are transferring to fifth or ninth grade from a non-accredited school or a home study program are not required to take the PARCC (ELA/Math) or LEAP (Science/Social Studies) tests.
Prior to enrollment, students must be administered the selected IOWA Basic Skills Placement test.
