Home Vegetable Gardening symposium set for March 5

The LSU AgCenter is conducting a Home Vegetable Gardening Symposium for homeowners who would like to learn more about growing vegetables in the home garden on Thursday, March 5 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The symposium will be presented by local Extension Agents Mariah Bock from St. James Parish, Stephanie Gravois from Ascension Parish, Craig Roussel from Ascension/St. James Parishes, and Dr. Ed Bush, LSU Horticulture Professor.
“Topics covered will include general vegetable production practices, insect identification and control, disease management techniques, and information on raised bed vegetable gardening including research being conducted on growing media for raised beds,” Craig Roussel said in a press release. “At the conclusion of the indoor presentations, we will go outside (weather permitting) to discuss ongoing work in the demonstration gardens at Lamar Dixon for those who are interested.”
